Notifications and soft prompts appear as opposites, but they belong to the same unstable regime of explicit signaling. Notifications force relevance through interruption, urgency markers, and attention capture. Soft prompts reduce pressure, but often become too weak, ignorable, or semantically underpowered when they lack carried context. Both assume that guidance must either break into awareness or remain marginal and optional.

This regime collapses because hard notifications fragment continuity and train vigilance, while soft prompts alone can fail to guide meaningful action when the environment does not support them.
